My wife's frustration with ABA software turned into a full SaaS product. Here's how it happened.

My wife is a BCBA and Clinical Director at an ABA therapy practice. For years I watched her bounce between seven different platforms just to get through a workday. Lead management in one tool. Task management in another. HR in another. Team chat, email, data collection, scheduling... all separate. Nothing talked to each other.

I'm a developer, so naturally I said the thing every developer spouse eventually says: "I could probably build something better."

What started as a small side project to help her streamline a few workflows turned into [StreamABA](https://streamaba.com), a full practice management platform built specifically for ABA therapy providers. Not a generic tool with ABA bolted on. Purpose-built from the ground up for how these practices actually operate.

The ABA industry is surprisingly underserved when it comes to FULL software solutions. Most practices with 20-200 staff are duct-taping together 5-8 disconnected systems and just living with the friction. Once I started digging into the problem, I realized this wasn't a "build a quick tool for my wife" situation. It was a real market gap.

Of course, realizing that and executing on it are two very different things.

My favorite humbling moment so far: the first live demo for my wife and her coworkers. I'd been heads down building for months and was feeling pretty confident. Right before the demo, I pushed a last-minute database update. You already know where this is going. Onboarding completely broke. Errors everywhere. In front of the exact people I was trying to impress.

But that's the journey. Every crashed demo, every late night reading data collection documentation, every rabbit hole into insurance billing logic has made the product better. Building for healthcare adds layers of complexity you don't get in other verticals, but it also means that when you solve these problems well, the value is massive.

The tech stack is built on Laravel, which gives me the flexibility and speed I need as a solo founder while keeping the codebase clean and maintainable. Healthcare requires rock-solid infrastructure, and Laravel has been the right foundation for that.
